Launch of Movement Matters – A new FREE advisory resource to support early movement opportunities
We are delighted to announce the launch of Movement Matters, a new advisory publication developed by the National Early Years Active Start Partnership (NEYASP) and released today to mark World Children’s Day.
Grounded in current research and aligned with national frameworks, Movement Matters supports the Early Years sector in understanding, valuing, and providing high-quality movement opportunities for all young children. The resource brings together expertise from across the partnership and offers both practical guidance and theoretical insight into the vital role movement plays in children’s health, learning, and development.
The downloadable publication explores key themes including physical literacy, the sensory systems, active and risky play, SEND, purposeful movement, and the importance of families in fostering early movement. Our aim is to empower educators, leaders, policymakers, and partners to place movement at the heart of early childhood practice.
