This Evidence Briefing focuses specifically on children less than 5 years of age.This important population group has previously been excluded from public health guidelines for 
physical activity, which typically focussed upon children aged 5 years and 
above.
 
Implications for practice:
The evidence summarised in the document has important implications for policy-makers 
and practitioners working with the early years and for parents / carers of children 
this age. Potential action areas for each of these groups are highlighted.
