Londonplay recently produced this ‘Play Attrition’ briefing

This City Hall briefing shows the scale of the cuts and curbs to children’s play in the public realm. A ‘must read’ – this is the attached introduction from Paul Hocker.

As for play in London, things are dire. Cuts to free play provision, usually in the poorest areas continued unabated. Small but significant bell heaters are emerging such as Wandsworth councils plan to fine children for climbing trees in parks (following the closure of all their adventure playground a few years ago. This could start a worrying trend if it goes unchallenged.
